A so called distribution contains the operating system and numerous free tools such as an office suite, browser, email, graphics and video programs, chat tools, high quality games and much more. These distributions can be downloaded and installed. The switch is particularly worthwhile for self employed people and freelancers.
You can download Linux yourself, play it on a USB stick, install and set it up on your computer yourself. This is no big deal, if you are familiar with computer administration. Windows 10 ends with October 2025
After that there are no more security updates. The system is then vulnerable to hackers and viruses. After careful consideration Windows 11 is the best reason to switch to another operating system.
