Windows 10 ends with October 2025
After that there are no more security updates. The system is then vulnerable to hackers and viruses. After careful consideration Windows 11 is the best reason to switch to another operating system. The many disadvantages of Windows 11 have been discussed in detail in many articles. More about this here.
Compliance with the GDPR, data security and controlling data flows to and from your computer are important issues. Windows 11 does the opposite. The layout, user interface and setup options have also been changed significantly, in my opinion not for the better. Functions like ReCall together with the built-in AI are scary: screenshots are constantly being taken, analyzed and to server in the US sent to create an accurate profile. It’s total surveillance!
The way out is switching to Linux, now. There are distributions which can be installed in minutes, are easy to setup and have a great user interface. If needed there are also Windows-like interfaces like shown with Linux Mint, the best distro i know.

Free Software and Open Source are terms for software, which is free of charge. The Linux operating system is free software. A so called distribution contains the operating system and numerous free tools such as an office suite, browser, email, graphics and video programs, chat tools, high quality games and much more. These distributions can be downloaded and installed. The switch is particularly worthwhile for self employed people and freelancers.
You can download Linux yourself, play it on a USB stick, install and set it up on your computer yourself. This is no big deal, if you are familiar with computer administration.
